Akuaba Screen Akuaba in the Akan language literally means DOLL. In past Ghanaian rural life context, these dolls are carried or kept under pillows by married women who desiring to give birth, are delayed for some reason. This act psyches the expectant woman up and makes her positively oriented mentally, to get pregnant. The Akuaba doll is a recognized symbol of FERTILITY and PRODUCTIVITY.
